I just can't get enough of those cute little LOL kitties. What is wrong with me. I think I might go and get tested for lead poisoning. No grown ass man worth his salt should be entertained by such wastoid humor... but they're just so cute!

Sophia's Dinner

Ten minutes ago I filled her bowl. Seven minutes ago she regurgitated this lovely pile of bile soaked Iams. Three minutes ago she was right back at the bowl filling her empty belly.

She teaches me a lot about the cyclical nature of things and that's why I love her. (For a close-up gross-out, take the jump to flickr)

Sophia Muralized In Newark?

This evening, in an effort to beat the rain on our way home from Iron Hill, we decided to take a shortcut through the alley next to the restaurant.

While on this off-the-beaten-path trek, we passed by a store called Village Imports. The facade of their building is decorated with a mural that can only be described as a weird invasion of our privacy.

I snapped this pic of what appears to be Sophia about to swat an unsuspecting butterfly out of the sky and consume it whole and then hours later cough it back out into the world and repeat the process.  A scene I've witnessed 100+ times within the confines of my living space but never documented on the side of a shop specializing in hippie skirts, beads and bongos.

If I was not of sound mind, I might think that their mural artist has immortalized my beloved pussycat in an effort to send the hola family a special certificate of recognition for our time served in Newark and subliminally communicate that despite our frustrations with the place, we'll someday achieve favorite son/daughter and oversized feline status.

I'll appreciate that gesture when that day comes. In the meantime, I really wanna know who's been peeping in my windows and studying my animal.

Note To Self: Distracting Others

It is unwise to hold the Gia-pet aloft and sing loudly in fake Swahili (as if to dedicate her to the circle of life) while Nellie is trying to finish writing her MFA thesis in the same room. Lesson learned.

I Am an Expert In One Area: Litterbox Sanitation Maintenance

Here's a recent conversation from the Hola house (as best as I can recall)...

Me:     ... I got all that stuff from Sherry's. She left that 50 pound bag of cat litter.
Nell:     Cool.
Me:     I'm going to give it to Kelly tomorrow for the Humane League. I'm sure they could use it.
Nell:     Why give it away, that's a good cat litter. We can use it.
Me:     Not really, it's not our kind.
Nell:    What do you mean? It's cat litter. It's multi-cats, we have multi-cats, that's what we use.
Me:     Yes, we use Tidy Cats multi-cats and that is Tidy Cats multi-cats but it's different. We use Tidy Cats, multi cats for small spaces.
Nell:     Is it really that big of a difference?
Me:     We use Tidy Cats, multi cats for small spaces, and ours clumps. Sherry's litter is not for small spaces and doesn't clump.
Nell:     Is it really that big of a difference?
Me:     Yes, have you ever cleaned a catbox that uses regular litter instead of clumping litter? 
Nell:     No.
Me:     I mean, do you realize who you're talking to? This is my thing.
Nell:     You're right, you would know.

Gia & Sophia

These fur balls contain enough genetic information (dander, hair, saliva) to replace my beloved cats. I will save them for a rainy day... or a day when there are not enough stray cats in the world to replace the stray cats pictured above. Aren't they just adorable?

You probably didn't know about the existence of Gia. Rarely seen in our domestic wilderness, she's a rare bird; not that photogenic and rather needy. We love her the way that one loves sloths and other pathetic creatures.
