A kind and wise man has been passing along MP3s of Bob Dylan's "Theme Time Radio Hour" to me for the past few weeks. (I don't have XM so I've got to rely on other means for delivery of this content.) He doesn't fully know it but he's helped me through some rough waters by passing along these little gems. Digital audio balm for the haggard weary workingman's soul if you will. I'll no sooner finish digesting an episode and he's done fetched another episode for me and helped brighten another day. For this service I believe he will be blessed.
In the spirit of continuing this season of kindness, I now pass along a link to another kind fellow's site (provided by, yet again, the original kind fellow mentioned above) where you can find a collection of these blessings. Even if you hate Dylan, you'll be impressed by his show. And if you're not impressed by his show, please send me a message and let me know why.
A good place to start would be at the "Coffee" episode. As my buddy Hans would say, "It's beautiful." I imagine him listening to the episode and twirling his beard and smiling a tiny toothed shite consuming grin, all the while pouring cup after cup and tamping his pipe tobacco as he rocks back on his heels in joy. I was out much later than expected last night catching The Swimmers at The Standard Tap and I listened to this episode on my drive into work this morning. As soon as I stepped through the doors I headed straight to the coffee pot. It's usually crap but today it was the best in the world, actually tasted like coffee. I followed it with more refills than I can recall and ended up with a nice case of the shakes around 2 PM. This reminded me of the Jayhawks tune, "Five Cups Of Coffee." Bob did not include this one in his show. Nobody's perfect.
