Since we don't have a TV, and we decided to stay in and not catch the big game at the Deerpark like we did last year, we're catching audio of the big game via the bbc online. Perhaps I'll download some wings and beer later. If they don't carry the Stones' halftime show I will just hop over to my iTunes and put together a little halftime show of my own.
Janell just confirmed that we're very much a couple of hoity-toity nerds for doing this.
It is kinda funny to listen to football play by plays announced with a British accent.
UPDATE: It's pretty interesting because they explain the rules and describe how the actions on the field are similar to rugby plays. Ooh, I just heard the phrase "tackled brilliantly!" Maybe this will be more entertaining than I thought ...
UPDATE 2: I got the wings, and there are a few Stellas still in the fridge. Now I need to find a way to watch the adverts. Superbowling has never been this much work.
UPDATE 3: Cluck-U's wings were much better than I thought they'd be. Just so you know, "atomic" is their version of mild. "Nuclear" is hotter. I don't really follow the logic. We are able to hear the Stones and that makes all of this hanging at home worth it. The sound quality is reminiscent of a really ancient bootleg from 1969 but we're getting the idea and feeling. I was surprised that the "you make a dead man come" (forth from the grave) line in "Start Me Up" was sung in this post Janet age. Scandalous!
UPDATE 4: One of the commentators said that the dead man line was removed from the song. I thought I heard it. I might be wrong. The Steelers are winning, that's exciting.
UPDATE 5: The Seahawks are on the board and Steve Hall over at AdRants has completed my order and provided a way for me to see the commercials that I've missed. All is complete now.
UPDATE 6: Steelers are leading 21 to 10, looks like PA might bring it home.
UPDATE 7: 52 seconds to go... Steelers?
UPDATE 8: Yup. Now we can finish watching "Fearless Freaks." Tomorrow I will tell you what Nellie did to celebrate my 30th. Here's a hint - she set the bar pretty high!
