I'm back after devoting much time to a work project and mini-vacation in Nashville. What did I miss while I was away?

All the sudden and outta nowhere we started getting concerned about gay marriage again. Forget about Haditha and all the fun in Iraq, immigration reform and our militarized border, there are homosexuals and activist judges out there trying to redefine the family. We must drop everything and discuss this and revel in the diversion. That petty stuff can wait, we've got to stop those wedding bells from ringing.

And it's more than ironic that the devil just might end the world tomorrow.
Another possible sign o' the apocalypse is that Bridgeton is getting some sorta Jacques Cousteau center.

nothing here is perfect

My very good friends Movies With Heroes released "Nothing Here Is Perfect" today. It's their biggest, tightest, most ambitious, and best effort yet. I've got much respect for the band because they know how to work it and they deserve an A for tenacity and stick-to-it-iveness for surviving the ups and downs of 10 plus years of trying to make it in the rock game. They exemplify the beautiful struggle. Help a brother's brothers out and listen to them and possibly purchase this finely crafted work of rock. The record is on iTunes as well, so you don't even have to step outside into the dark night to find out what the kids with their hearts on their sleeves are listening to these days on their walkmen boom boxers.
UPDATE: I just got wind that the MWH CD is going to be available in Hot Topic stores. This story keeps getting better.

Word From Planet Snails

I received my first snails newsletter today. It's a little late so I guess it took a while to get through all the bureaucratic rock & roll comptroller BS and what not. I hear Cleveland and the hall are slated for demolition by punks everywhere looking for blood because the sexual pistols rule so absolutely much. Whoever they were. The Snails will fill in whatever deep crater their asteroid might have left very soon. It will be flat like a parking lot or a penny carefully laid on the tracks before an oncoming train. They don't fool FOOL! Like when they get a few more gigs under their studded belts this will all happen. Maybe 10 or five or something. Overshadowing the work of all rock "others" and whatever impact they had is how the snails bring it. As you'll read, this newsletter in packed with factual news from real rockers making it happen everyday. It's lovingly packed with news from your favorite rock / punk / jam / funk / cover / mindbendingly original band of all time that you've never seen, heard, or will ever encounter in this lifetime. This will hurt you a lot more than it will hurt me. Think Bill & Ted and then times that by a hundred times that by all the times they've gone plat (in the other realms) and then you'll get a sense of their deeply metallic instinct nostalgia capability reduction component abilities. Word!

Guest Poster: Janell My Belle

Ryan turns 30 tomorrow and while I should be showering him with gifts, he just gave me the best gift ever of fixing our bathtub. He seems to be getting more handy in his old age.

I have big bday plans in store for him and, for the first time, I have been able to keep a secret.

I just want to tell you, Ryan, that I think 30 will be a good year for you because each year with you seems to get better and better. Don't feel like you are having a crisis of old age because you and I both know that you are smarter and sexier than ever before (sorry dad that you had to hear me call someone sexy).

I know that it seems that we are taking longer than some others when it comes to the kids, house, dependable income thing and that it is mostly because of me that we are taking our time...but it will be worth it. I don't go a single day without being thankful for your support and without feeling amazement that we found each other 10 years ago. These next ten will be as eventful as the last ten, with as many struggles and as many triumphs and as many nights of "playing bar" (maybe even more if I don't get a job
soon)...and hopefully we will add a new addition to our family and find a new place to settle into...and who knows what else. Thank you for your commitment to us...I haven't doubted it since I was 18.

So, the girls (gia and sophia for those of you that don't know) and I send our constant love and admiration to you on your 30th. Thanks for fixing our bathtub.
